Vietnam and Cambodia tour - June 2024

My journey began with a flight on Vietnam Airlines to Siem Reap, Cambodia, where I was warmly welcomed at the luxurious Sofitel Angkor Hotel & Resort. The welcome dinner was a delightful introduction to the rich flavors of Cambodian cuisine, setting the tone for the incredible experiences ahead. That night, I settled into my comfortable accommodations, eagerly anticipating the adventures to come.

The next day started early with a visit to the Angkor Temple Complex. Witnessing the sunrise over the iconic Angkor Wat was a magical moment, casting a golden glow over the ancient stone structures. I explored the legendary UNESCO World Heritage Site, marveling at its grandeur and historical significance. Ta Prohm, with its atmospheric, overgrown ruins, offered a hauntingly beautiful contrast. After a satisfying lunch in town and a site inspection at the elegant Amansara, I delved into the mysteries of Angkor Thom. The intricate carvings of the Baphoun, Elephant Terraces, Lepper King Terrace, and the Royal Palace area left me in awe. The evening concluded with a traditional Apsara dance show and dinner, immersing me further in the local culture.

The following day began with a serene boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake at Chong Kneas, witnessing the unique floating villages. After lunch and an inspection at the Park Hyatt Hotel, I embarked on a scenic road trip to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, I checked into my hotel and enjoyed a delightful dinner at a local restaurant. The next day was deeply moving, as I visited the Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and the Killing Fields, reflecting on Cambodia's tragic history. The afternoon was spent exploring the Royal Palace, Silver Pagoda, and the National Museum, all showcasing the splendor of Khmer architecture and art. Dinner at another local restaurant provided a comforting end to an emotional day.

After a leisurely breakfast and some free time, I departed for Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) and traveled to Phan Thiet. I was treated to a delectable dinner at The Anam Mui Ne and spent the night in this beautiful coastal town. The next morning, I watched the sunrise over the stunning sand dunes, visited the European-style wine castle, and explored the fish sauce museum, delving into 300 years of local history. After a delicious lunch, I inspected another hotel before enjoying dinner at the Anantara Mui Ne Resort.

My final full day took me back to Ho Chi Minh City, where I visited landmarks like Independence Palace, the Post Office, Dong Khoi Street, and Ben Thanh Market. The day concluded with a scenic dinner cruise, offering stunning views of the city at night. The following morning, I headed to the airport for my departure, reflecting on an unforgettable journey through Vietnam and Cambodia, rich with history, culture, and breathtaking sights
